Associate Pastor for Children and Youth

We are seeking a full-time Associate Pastor for Children and Youth. As the primary focus, they will provide dynamic leadership for the children & youth ministries at Buechel Park. They will also assist the Senior Pastor with administration, pastoral care, worship, and the spiritual formation of the church at large. Position Description: The Associate Pastor will provide dynamic leadership for the family ministries at BPBC as well as assisting the Senior Pastor with administration, pastoral care, worship, and the spiritual formation of the church at large.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and communicate a vision for children’s and youth ministries which aligns with and supports the overall vision of BPBC.
  • Provide and supervise a broad-based program for our children, youth, and their families, which provide opportunities to deepen their faith and assists them as they grow.
  • Coordinate retreats, trips, camps, and mission work for children and youth.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and evaluate volunteers for children and youth ministries.
  • Develop an outreach plan that will promote growing relationships between the church and children, youth, and families in the community.
  • Communicate details timely, regularly, and clearly about worship responsibilities, regular activities, and special events in planning documents, print and web publications.
  • Prepare, with assistance from coordinating ministry team chairs, annual budgets reflecting the needs of the children and youth ministry programs. Administer the budget once it is approved by the church.
  • Provide pastoral care for children, youth, their families, as well as for the lay leaders and the community at large.
  • Assist in leading public worship, including preaching as coordinated by the Senior Pastor.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participate in staff meetings, deacons’ meetings, Church Council, steering council, business meetings, Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry Teams.
  • Share responsibilities with the Senior Pastor in presiding over weddings, funerals, special worship services and community events.
  • Visit, in conjunction with the Pastor and Deacons, individuals in the congregation who are ill, hospitalized, shut-in or otherwise in need of care and attention.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry (or equivalent). Preferably, a Master of Divinity.
  • Demonstrated pastoral leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to speak in a public forum.
